Who Dances

The Department of Dance embraces human diversity in all its many facets—gender, race, class, age, sexual orientation, and ability.

Efforts since 2007

Our community is racially diverse with 48.5% students and 27.3% faculty of color in 2021-2022. Significant strategic efforts have been made to create a more diverse DAI community, which include:

  • Increasing the diversity of our faculty through active searches and utilizing campus programs and incentives.
  • Increasing the diversity of our students by changing audition and recruiting processes.
  • Raising funds for scholarships through our No Debt for Dancers Initiative, specifically targeted for the BIPOC community.
