Nattie Trogdon (she/her) is a performer, choreographer, and educator part of a collaborative duo with her life and creative partner, Hollis Bartlett. She creates dance works, films and research based practices aimed to disrupt assumptions of performance and personhood. Her collaborations have been presented at The River to River Festival, Center for Performance Research, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Coffey Street Studios, Future Dance Festival at the 92 Y, Duo Multicultural Arts Center, School for Contemporary Dance and Thought, The 14th street Y, Judson Church, Earthdance, The Dance Complex and the No Theme Festival. She’s received support from artist residencies at LMCC, The 14th Street Y, MAD Arts, The Croft, Marble House Project, The Atlantic Center for the Arts, The Visionary, MOtiVE Brooklyn, Chapman Steamer Arts, Monira Foundation, Mana Contemporary, Leimay, NYU, and Gibney. In Spring 2023, she and Hollis were the first collaborative pair invited to participate in the New Directions Choreography Lab at The Ailey School founded by Robert Battle.
Her performing and teaching practices are deeply tied into her dance making. As a performer, Nattie has worked with Kathy Westwater, Catherine Galasso, Joanna Kotze, Raja Feather Kelly, Kimberly Bartosik, David Dorfman and Doug Varone. She’s been a guest artist at NYU, Rutgers University, Swarthmore College, and SUNY Brockport and her work has been commissioned by SUNY Purchase, Roger Williams University, University of Maryland, and Salem State University. Born and raised in rural North Carolina, Nattie is a graduate of the high school program at the UNC School of the Arts and received her BFA in dance with honors from SUNY Purchase. www.nattieandhollis.com
