About Andrea Hanson
Bio
Andrea Hanson (she/her) is a dancer and choreographer originally from Taiwan. She developed her passion for movement and research while earning her BA in Chemistry and Dance at St. Olaf College. She has performed in works by Cynthia Gutierrez, Brianna Rae Johnson, Tumelo Khupe, Heather Klopchin, Kyle Marshall, and Jeffrey Peterson. Her choreographic work explores themes of connection, conflict, and identity. Her dance film Solitude, created at Tufts University, was selected for screening at the American Dance Festival’s Movies by Movers. Alongside her artistic practice, Andrea applies her skills in media production as Project Manager for Global Site Performance. Having grown up in Hong Kong and South Korea, she is passionate about using dance as a means of self-expression and cross-cultural understanding, and looks forward to further exploring movement and community at the University of Illinois.
