intro
The performance explores recovery, remembrance, and reimagining in response to major life changes and collective experiences. Its three pieces examine themes including Black girls’ play and resilience through an Afrofuturistic lens, the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the process of rebuilding connections and envisioning a hopeful future.
The production also brings together university collaborators across music, graphic design, costume design, and lighting to create an immersive artistic experience. Following its world premiere at the Bates Dance Festival, the work was scheduled to perform at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on October 2–3, with additional performances planned in Brooklyn, Chicago, and Minneapolis through May 2027.
